Dr. Drake with “Charlie, Tedy and Jett"
|
Dr. Maura Drake is a native of The Quiet Corner, growing up nearby in Woodstock, CT. Dr. Drake moved back to Woodstock 3 years ago with her husband and their three children. Her "zoo" consists of dogs, cats, fish, hermit crabs and her most recent addition of two guinea pigs. In her free time away from work most of her time is spent with her children, occasionally getting a moment to slip in a little reading and sewing.
Dr. Drake arrived to veterinary medicine in a round about fashion. After undergraduate school at Emory University, she went to graduate school at Tufts University with a degree in Animals and Public Policy. Upon graduating she took a position working in an animal shelter. After working there for a while Dr. Drake realized she could be more helpful to animals as a veterinarian. Dr. Drake then moved on to veterinary school, graduating from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, returning back to CT to practice veterinary medicine. She enjoys veterinary surgery and medicine, treating not just dogs and cats, but also exotic "pocket" pets, such as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits.
